Eastbrook Academy offers a 4-week academic summer school program for students in progressing into grades 1-12. This program concentrates on academic review for only those Academy students who have been recommended for attendance and those students who have been newly accepted to the Academy. The program will run during the month of July, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
There is a weekly cost for the summer school program. All new Eastbrook Academy students and existing Eastbrook Academy students recommended for summer school, should plan to attend the entire session. The Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP) covers the tuition for all eligible students. Financial assistance will be considered based upon financial need for those students who do not qualify for the Choice program.

Lower School (Grades 1-5)
9:30-10:30 am - Math Computation
10:00-10:15 am - Break (Playground)
10:15-10:30 am - Snack with Teacher Read-Aloud
10:30-11:15 am - Math Concepts
11:15-12:30 pm - Phonetics/Grammar
Middle School (Grades 6-8)
8:30-10:00 am - 6th Grade - Reading
Reading: guided oral reading, vocabulary development, discussion, writing activities.
Grammar: parts of speech, sentence analysis, diagramming.
8:30-10:00 am - 7/8th Grade - Math
Math: 7th - pre-algebra skills; 8th - algebra skills
10:00-10:15 am - Snack
10:15-10:30 am - Break (playground)
10:30-12:30 pm - 6th Grade - Math
Math: Instruction on concepts, such as fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, proportions.
10:30-12:30 pm - 7/8th Grade - Reading
Reading: guided oral reading, vocabulary development, discussion, writing activies.
Grammar: parts of speech, sentence analysis, diagramming.
High School (Grades 9-12)
8:30-10:30 am - Skill work in Algebra and Geometry
Conceptual foundations of Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra II
10:30-12:30 am - Literature and Composition
Develop comprehension, increase reading rates, 3-5 paragraph essay writing, precis work, and literacy circles.
Note-taking skills and other study skills will also be covered.
Middle school and high school students may have the option of taking only the math portion or the reading portion depending on the school's recommendation. |
