Eastbrook Academy EBA Impact

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets."

Matthew 7:12 NIV

EBA IMPACT

As a Christ-centered academic community, our first focus is not on ourselves but on Christ and others.  This page is dedicated to stories of how Eastbrook Academy impacts the community through service and relationships.

COMMUNITY

City, Church and School in One Location

Flexibility, adaptability and sharing are hallmarks of growing relationships.  On Friday, December 10th, 2010 school, church and city shared every corner of the campus.  Approximately 1000 women and children (and men), were blessed to hear well known speaker and author Jill Briscoe share a message about holding on to the Word of God (John 1:1). With 400 EBA children and faculty coming and going, 80 dozen cookies, gallons of coffee and punch, worship music and a string quartet, there was a lot of flexing and adapting to do!

Sharing space is not unusual:Eastbrook Academy is blessed by Eastbrook church which owns the facilities and generously shares the buildings with the school. Through this sharing, students and faculty learn they are not in this world for themselves but to serve others. This was illustrated on December 10th when faculty adjusted the school schedule and high school students gladly directed parking, cared for infants and children, served refreshments and helped clean up. The result of the community coming together was energizing. In addition to relationships growing through this event, the most important relationship began for some, “Many women told Jill that they had given their hearts to Christ,” remarked Libby Jansson, event coordinator, adding, “God…will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people…” Christ-centeredness was evident in every corner of the shared campus that morning!

HIGHLIGHTS

WE Energies-Sponsored Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Contest Winners

Each year, Eastbrook Academy participates in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. speech, essay and art contests sponsored by our Milwaukee neighbor, WE Energies.   Any students in kindergarten through grade 12, who live in Milwaukee or attend any Milwaukee public, private, charter or home school can participate. Of the hundreds who submit work, there are 30 finalists in each category.  Eastbrook typically has several finalists that go on to win and that was true again in 2010!  Dorian J. (2nd grade), Madison E. (3rd grade) and Ngozi M. (8th grade) each won the gold medal for their division.  Rachel D. (9th grade) took third place and Shaunna B. (12th grade) took third place.  Shannon J. (6th grade) earned an honorable mention.  Meghan B. (9th grade) won third place in the art contest.  Congratulations students!
