enrollment and Tuition
We are currently accepting applications for the 2011-2012 school year for all grade levels.
See the Applying to EBA page to view the enrollment process step by step.
If you are interested in details regarding our Before / After Care Program please click here for information.
Orientation & Tour
All prospective families must participate in an orientation & tour of the school. Call school office or director of admissions to schedule an appointment for a tour. See if one of our next tour dates work for you by viewing the Visiting EBA page.
The Application Process
Prospective families are given an application packet for admission during their tour. There is a $200 enrollment fee (which includes a $100, non-refundable, assessment fee + the $100 tuition deposit) required with each application. This fee is waived for those families who are eligible for the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP).
Eligibility for MPCP requires that the applicant live in the city of Milwaukee and meet the required income guidelines for the designated school year. For more information on the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP) check the Department of Public Instruction MPCP Homepage website.
Assessment
Student interactions (K4) and assessements (K5-12) are conducted for all incoming students. Once a completed application along with the enrollment fee, or either a choice applicant has been chosen to occupy a vacant seat, the student must complete their academic assessment during the next designated time.
Assessments include the following tests appropriate for each grade level:
- Kuhlman-Anderson Assessment (middle and high school only)
- Saxton Math & (Pre) Algebra (high school) Assessment
- Language Arts Assessment
If you are scheduling an interaction or assessment for your student, keep in mind the following time requirements:
- K4 - 1st grade: 30 - 45 minutes
- 2nd - 4th grade: 1 - 2 hours
- Middle School: 3 hours
- High School: 4 hours
All K5 through 4th grade assessments are conducted one on one with our Lower School Head. K4 interactions / assessments are scheduled in small groups.
All middle school and high school students participate in a group testing date, all participants must be pre-registered. Once attendance is confirmed, please plan to arrive by 7:50 am. All new candidates must participate in the next regularly scheduled assessment date.
You will be contacted by the Director of Admissions to schedule your student's assessment.
Admissions Committee
Once the assessment has been completed for the middle and high school candidates, the Admissions Committee, composed of the four school heads and the director of admissions, meet to review the student's assessment scores, their current and previous school year's report cards, their most current standardized test scores, and teacher recommendation form to determine final grade placement.
Committee renders decision to:
- Assign grade level placement, or
- Deny applicant (for non-Choice only)
Space is limited and sometimes a student is assigned a grade level but is placed on a waiting list* until a seat is available.
*Waiting Lists: If your student was placed on a waiting list, please keep in mind that wait listed applications are not retained after the commencement of the upcoming school year. If a seat does not become available, you must re-apply with a new application during the next open enrollment cycle if you want future consideration for admission.
ALL families have 2 weeks from the date the school offers final grade placement (post academic assessment) of their student to confirm enrollment or decline the school's offer. After June 1, 2010 parents must confirm grade level placement and acceptance within 1 week of the school's offer.
Admissions Timeline
The entire admissions process can take up to 3-4 weeks to complete. Families are strongly encouraged to apply early beginning in November. Returning students have first preference for the upcoming school year. Returning choice students must submit their new applications during the first open applicaton period to guarantee their seat. Generally, students are not enrolled once the school year has begun.
We believe an Eastbrook Academy education is a lasting investment in the future of your child and our community.
