"A CHRIST-CENTERED ACADEMIC COMMUNITY"
"The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out"
Proverbs 18:15 (NIV)
Academics
Eastbrook Academy High School exists to support families from diverse backgrounds in the academic and spiritual development of their children for college preparation and life.
The Academy is founded to impart a rigorous classical education in a loving environment committed to Christian living.

LOWER SCHOOL
The first years of schooling are called the "grammar stage" - not because you spend four years doing English, but because these are the years in which the building blocks for all other learning are laid, just as grammar is the foundation for language.
In the elementary school years, what we commonly think of as grades one through four, the mind is ready to absorb information. Children at this age actually find memorization fun. So during this period, education involves not self-expression and self-discovery, but rather the learning of facts: rules of phonics and spelling, rules of grammar, poems, the vocabulary of foreign languages, the stories of history and literature, descriptions of plants and animals and the human body, the facts of mathematics - the list goes on. This information makes up the "grammar" or the basic building blocks, for the second stage of education.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
By fifth grade, a child's mind begins to think more analytically. Middle school students are less interested in finding out facts than in asking "Why?"
The second phase of the classical education, the "Logic Stage", is a time when the child begins to pay attention to cause and effect, to the relationships between different fields of knowledge and relate to the way facts fit together into a logical framework.
A student is ready for the Logic Stage when the capacity for abstract thought begins to mature. During these years, the student begins algebra and the study of logic, and begins to apply logic to all academic subjects. The logic of writing, for example, includes paragraph construction and learning to support a thesis; the logic of reading involves the criticism and analysis of texts, not simply absorption of facts; the logic of history demands that the student find out why the War of 1812 was fought, rather than simply reading its story; the logic of science requires that the child learn the scientific method.

HIGH SCHOOL

Eastbrook Academy High School is committed to providing a classical education where students form logical and fact-based arguments to defend their own opinions.
In addition to developing rhetorical skills, our goal is to spark both thought and the enjoyment of lifelong learning in all subjects including Literature, Math, Science, History, Languages (Spanish and Mandarin) and Fine Arts. Classes are taught from a biblical world-view by teachers who model inquisitive learning. This traditional approach is designed to maximize the student's opportunities for admission to competitive colleges and universities.
24 credits are necessary for graduation: 19 core academic credits plus five additional credits. Many students will earn 28 credits. Each year, a student is required to take six subjects and has the option of taking a seventh. The following distribution is required:

Most core courses are taught as Advanced Placement or in preparation for Advanced Placement testing. Eastbrook Academy High School has a 100% graduation rate. Because the Academy is a small school with a rigorous classical curriculum, class rank is not computed. 100% of our students apply for and receive college admission. 100% of our students take either the ACT or the SAT tests.
Advanced Placement (AP) Testing and Results
In the spring of 2010, students at Eastbrook Academy High School took forty-eight Advanced Placement (“AP”) exams. Twenty-eight of these exams—in ten different subject areas—earned passing scores. Our students took twice as many AP exams per student as did students at any of the best public high schools in Wisconsin, which would place us in the top 1% of the nation (according to the metric used by Newsweek to rank high schools). Were we a public school, we would be ranked #38 out of more than 25,000 schools. Also impressive, nine of our passing scores were earned by underclassmen (in Biology, Macroeconomics and European History). Very few high schools will allow underclassmen into AP courses, as they do not consider them capable of handling college-level work.
- 2010 student body size: 34
- Number of AP exams taken: 48
- Number of AP exams passed (score of 3 or higher out of 5): 28
- Distribution of passing scores: seven 5’s, nine 4’s and twelve 3’s
- Passing scores earned by underclassmen: two 5’s, three 4’s, four 3’s
- Subjects in which passing AP scores were earned:
- English Literature and Composition
- Spanish Language
- Calculus AB
- Calculus BC
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics C: Mechanics
- European History
- Macroeconomics
- United States Government and Politic
