Eastbrook Academy About EBA

"We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us…"

2 Cor 5:20a (NIV)

About EBA

While there are four core pillars that define Eastbrook Academy, a non-denominational Christian academic environment, we are also known for our small classroom sizes & affordability.

Our goal is to offer classrooms with 16 students in the lower school (grades K4-4), 18 students in our middle school (grade 5-8) and 20 students in our high school (grades 9-12). We have determined a path of slow growth for our student body. Our existence over the past thirteen years and this slow growth process has always been a part of our strategic plan where developing personal relationships with the student body is paramount.

Our tuition is purposely kept reasonable in order to offer an excellent education to the broadest sprectrum of families in Milwaukee and surrounding areas. As a participant in the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program and through financial aid, our 2011-2012 tuition of $5,000 means more families have an opportunity to have their children attend Eastbrook Academy.

We are provisional members of ISACS (Independent Schools Association of the Central States).

Our core pillars:

Christian Foundation, Rigorous, Diversity & Classical Education.

Read more below.

CHRISTIAN FOUNDATION

Eastbrook Academy aligns itself with the Truth as upheld in the Bible and taught by Jesus Christ. At the same time, we accept all students and families who understand and agree to abide by the standards the school sets by that faith. While rigorous academics is key, spiritual truths are required to prepare your student for life and eternity.

RIGOROUS

Eastbrook Academy teaches students how to use language effectively as listeners, speakers, writers, and readers. Eastbrook Academy's classical education teaches simple truths that children need to learn and adults must teach. Our school maintains a high standard of college preparatory coursework to academically prepare your student for higher education.

DIVERSITY

The representation of our diversity is captured in three areas: socioeconomic, ethnic and geographic.

Socioeconomic

  • Approximately 45% of our student body pays full tuition.
  • Thirty-five to forty percent are enrolled in the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program.
  • Approximately 14% percent receive other financial aid in the form of reduced tuition.

Ethnic

Our student body represents multiple ethnic groups and many countries of origin. Within our student community are children of many ethnic backgrounds including first generation families from China, Lebanon, Nigeria, Guatemala, Romania, South Korea, Ethiopia, Somalia and Mexico. Currently the Academy has about 59.4% minority enrollment.

Geographic

The Academy cultivates a unique mix of urban and suburban students. By establishing a goal of having 33% of the students participating in the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program, the Academy ensures a substantial city-based student population. Currently, about 50% of students reside in the City of Milwaukee, while the remaining students are drawn from suburban areas.

              CLASSICAL EDUCATION

              ..with a Traditional Approach

The classical education model at Eastbrook Academy is based on a three-part process of training the student's mind. This classical approach is called the trivium. In a biblical sense, it could be viewed as stages of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.

Grammar Stage (lower school) - "Knowledge"

The early years of school, the grammar stage, is spent absorbing facts, systematically laying the foundations of advanced study.

Logic Stage (middle school) - "Understanding"

By 5th grade, a child's mind is developmentally ready for the "logic stage". By God's design, middle school students are less interested in finding out facts and more interested in asking "why". Students pay attention to cause and effect, to the relationships between different fields of knowledge and they are able to piece facts together in a logical framework.

At the middle school level, teachers teach skills of reasoning, to critically question, analyze, evaluate, discern causes, motives, and to investigate theory.

Rhetoric Stage (high school) - "Wisdom"

During the high school years, students learn to express themselves and become proficient in communicating analyzed information. They ask questions, investigate the truth and then formulate responses. They hone their communication skills by reporting verbally and in writing.
